You know what terrifies me?

The way it is
Won’t do.
The way it is
Allows white men to go on killing rampages because they couldn’t handle their own desires.
The way it is
Means women, bipoc, lgbtqia+, and many more cannot walk down the street without fear.
The way it is
Means SO MANY OF US have to contort ourselves
Hide ourselves
Pretend ourselves away

Just to be safe
To be accepted
To be supported

The way it is
Is a huge improvement from where it was.

But it is no where near what it needs to be.
To have all beings be free.

I see us trying to deviate from this truth,
And it scares me.

We cannot shrug our shoulders at the way it is.
We must take IN the truth of our reality.
Let in the ways in which we hold “the way it is” inside of ourselves.
See it.
Sit with it.
Talk with it.
Shift it.

The way it is
Will not shift
Until we start to see that the way it is is only so because of how it is in us.
